Instructor, RYT 200
Born and raised in Singapore, Karen took her first Yoga class in Singapore with her mom (also a yoga teacher!) in 1986 at age 16 and saw first-hand how the practice of movement, breathing and meditation eliminated her mom’s health problems. Her mother’s experience and teaching continues to influence her knowledge.
Many, many years later, after moving to the United States and to Corona, she came back to a more consistent practice of her own, thanks to the wonderful teachers (Lisa, Purvi and Damien) at Just Yoga in Corona.
She appreciates the energetic and peaceful energy in addition to the physical strength and fitness that comes from practice, and strives to apply that energy to all aspects of her own life. The beauty of yoga is that it brings you back to yourself, through every chapter of life.
Karen completed her 200-hour teacher training with Just Yoga in 2014 solely to deepen her knowledge and to gradually introduce her children into their own practice. She is grateful and excited to have the opportunity to share her knowledge with others. She has a keen interest in the practice of breathing (pranayama) and meditation and looks forward to additional formal training in those areas. She is currently working on her advanced 300-hour training with Lisa Salners. Karen lives in Corona with her husband and two children.
